For the last four year My Caravan of Dreams Blog has been a sanctuary for me. It has been a place where I speak and share my thoughts and journey through life’s ups and downs. It has been a place where like minded people can share thoughts and ideas without any fear of ridicule or recrimination. Initially while my main goal was to share what it’s like to be a dervish in today’s fast-paced and turbulent times, the scope has widened and much has changed. Whereas initially I wrote a lot about the Sufi tradition now I feel the blog has become really a sanctuary for all people and traditions.
We are all facing difficulties in our respective societies, families, and personal lives. Everywhere I turn I see divisive rhetoric that focuses on how we are all different, and tries to exploit those differences for a multitude of purposes. While I am not in a position to judge whether those purposes are altruistic or not, I have taken these words from Mevlana or Rumi as he is known in the West, pasted below as to be the guideline that will set the ambiance for My Caravan of Dreams Blog from here onward.

Move beyond any attachment to names.” Every war
and every conflict between human beings has happened because
of some disagreement about
names. It’s such an unnecessary foolishness, because just
beyond the arguing there’s a long
table of companionship, set and waiting for us to sit down.
UPDATE: June 27th, 2012
I have started a new Charitable Initiative for the Blog. Please check it out here and let me know what you think.
