Sharing a Glass of Tea with You (5) – A Touch of Sweetness! – New Developments

I wish people knew that happiness is in the gathering of Friends- that they might mingle with each other, and show their beautiful faces, so that love will appear among them. When one by one desire comes between them their brightness vanishes. If you keep something within honey, it remains fresh and sweet – the air cannot find a way into  it to spoil it.

- Shams of Tabriz

I really like this quote from the Maqalat of Sham Tabriz. It captures in part my feeling for wanting to share a cup of tea with you all.  When we come together in the spirit of together, looking to share The Friend makes His presence known.  And of course within that presence is a sweetness that of course ‘preserves’ us.  In many ways when people come together to be present, to live in the moment we create a sacred space for something to manifest. In many ways the coming together of friends is like the alchemical vessel, the place of transformation of our baser elements to gold. (Btw I love the continuity of colors, Gold, honey etc)

A readers on the blog’s Facebook page had suggested a virtual cup of tea. A means through which  we can use the speed and almost ubquitous presence of the Internet to meet for ‘tea’.  To me this is a great idea,  a beautiful idea.  It is very symbolic I feel, of the fact that coming together like this obliterates space and time.  Together in the divine moment there is no  time , no space, no concepts. I am sure many of you are aware of the following quote

Beyond ideas of wrongdoing and rightdoing,
there is a field. I’ll meet you there.

When the soul lies down in that grass,
the world is too full to talk about.
Ideas, language, even the phrase each other
doesn’t make any sense.

The Price of Admission

This field isn’t a place in our conception of place, it is something much greater than this far beyond  concepts as well. To be given a taste of this honey, made from some unimagined beauty beyond our conception, there is a with a price that has to be paid. With every gathering there is a price of admission  and I list the quote at the beginning of this post:

When one by one desire comes between them their brightness vanishes. If you keep something within honey, it remains fresh and sweet – the air cannot find a way into  it to spoil it.

In coming to share a cup of ‘tea’ we are making ourselves available to two things; one to our fellow human being, to listen to what they have to say, to talk to them, to share something with them ultimately  to give each other something. We are also making ourselves available to be permeated by that sweets Shamz Tabriz talks of in the quote.

So with that said I have done some research into the type of platform that could host a virtual cup of tea.  There is Skype of course which is very popular, there is BlogTalkRadio which is also popular. I have an account on BlogTalkradio for the blog, and I can create an account for Skype.  Tell me what you would prefer or make any suggestions here on the blog or on the Blog’s Facebook page which can be found here.

My Best wishes to all of you

Dave

A virtual cup of tea is a great idea. I don’t know much about the technology but I have a Skype account that I haven’t used yet. Maybe now is a good time.
